Healing Birth Trauma
Support for Birthing People Processing Difficult or Traumatic Birth Experiences (3–6 Sessions)
Birth can be life-altering in ways that are beautiful—and in ways that are deeply painful or overwhelming. Many postpartum parents, whether through vaginal birth, C-section, or other delivery experiences, feel shaken or distressed by what they lived through. You may have left your birth feeling unheard, frightened, or disconnected from your body.
These experiences are real. They deserve care, integration, and support.
My offering provides a short-term, focused birth trauma healing process (typically 3–6 sessions) that helps birthing people tell, process, and honor their full birth story—from beginning to end—in a trauma informed space.
What Is Birth Trauma?
Birth trauma can arise when:
You felt powerless, dismissed, or not truly seen
A C-section or emergency intervention happened quickly or unexpectedly
Your baby’s safety or your own safety felt at risk
You had complications that were frightening or destabilizing
The experience was overwhelming, chaotic, or emotionally painful
You feel lingering fear, guilt, numbness, or distress in the postpartum period
You have a history of childhood traumatic birth experiences (your own birth story) that still impacts you today
Birth trauma is not defined by the medical outcome.
It is defined by your experience—your emotional, physical, and spiritual reality.
How the Process Works
I use a gentle, integrative method inspired by Gena McCarthy’s Birth Spirituality & Healing model, which combines:
✨ Bilateral Stimulation
Supports the nervous system in processing overwhelming memories and easing emotional intensity—helpful for difficult birth memories, C-section trauma, and postpartum distress.
✨ Resourcing
We identify the internal and external supports that help you feel grounded and safe as you revisit your story.
✨ Somatic Awareness
We bring gentle attention to sensations, emotions, and body cues to help your system release what has felt stuck or overwhelming.
A Brief, Focused Healing Path (3–6 Sessions)
This approach centers on telling your birth story in a supported and paced way, processing emotions and body responses as they arise.
We don’t isolate only one moment—instead, we honor the whole arc of your experience.
This process can be especially helpful for:
Postpartum parents who are struggling
People healing from C-section trauma
Individuals preparing for another pregnancy after a traumatic birth
Adults who learned later in life that their own birth was traumatic and want to process its emotional impact
As you share your story, we:
Notice where your body becomes activated or shut down
Use somatic tools and bilateral stimulation to support integration
Unwind what feels unresolved
Create a narrative that feels clearer, more grounded, and more compassionate
Many people experience meaningful shifts within 3–6 sessions.
What Sessions Are Like
Sessions are calm, supportive, and guided by your pace. Together we may:
Begin with grounding or resourcing
Continue telling the next part of your birth story
Pause whenever needed to support activation or overwhelm
Use somatic or bilateral tools to help your body stay steady
Integrate the experience in a way that feels honoring and whole
You are never asked to relive trauma.
Your body and your story guide the work.
